Taking compressed roman inscriptional capitals as our first reference point, and also looking at many later historical variations and derivations, this workshop explores bringing these and other associated forms up to date, refining (or redesigning) them to either compliment formal calligraphic compositions or to use on their own. This workshop will investigate the principles and pitfalls, working processes and design elements involved with larger multi-text or complex pieces of work.
