Nothing says calligraphy like a medieval festival, and, this year, members of South London Lettering Association brought a little penmanship to the visitors and stallholders at the Midsummer Medieval Festival at the Rookery, Lambeth. Hosted by The London Steiner School, the event was set in luscious gardens and featured archery, face painting, live music, medieval dances, and cute animals.

Our stellar calligraphy superstars, members Keiko, Paula, Sue and Kate, welcomed guests at the SLLA stall throughout the afternoon to get their name calligraphed or to have a go. The event was a buzz with people inspired to learn more about the art of calligraphy.

I think we can safely say that it was the children who got the most out of the day, and quite a few went away very inspired. A lot of them now know how to hold a pen correctly. — Paula Comparini
