Medieval Manuscripts with Mary Wellesley

We are delighted that Dr Mary Wellesley agreed to give such an interesting talk to the SLLA at our November social evening.

Mary is a scholar, historian and author who is an expert on medieval manuscripts and the people who wrote them. Having studied English Language and Literature at Oxford University she went on to complete a PhD at University College London. She has worked in the Department of Ancient, Medieval and Early Modern Manuscripts at the British Library, where she continues to teach courses in medieval language and literature.

maryMary is the author of two books on medieval manuscripts, their histories and their makers: ‘The Gilded Page – The Secret Lives of Medieval Manuscripts’ and ‘Hidden Hands – the Lives of Manuscripts and their Makers’. She is a regular contributor to the London Review of Books, The Times Literary supplement, The New York Review of Books, and the Times Literary supplement.
