Rachel Yallop's calligraphic journey

“Taking a line for a walk, my calligraphic journey.”

Members and guests spent an enjoyable and informative evening listening to Rachel Yallop talking about her life and work as a calligrapher. Probably best known for her beautifully elegant copperplate, Rachel showed slides of her work with the swelling line, going from fine to thick then back to fine. She was ably assisted on the slides by her cat who lent a paw! Rachel went on to demonstrate some designs, showing the tools she uses and the producing some letters. After such an interesting evening, members are now looking forward to Rachel’s workshop on 11 November on Ruling Pen Lettering.
