Visit to College of Arms

Last year’s visit to the College of Arms booked up very quickly and was so popular that Ann Caro had to organise a second trip. There was another full house for the visit on 25th April, when we were hosted by David Vines White and Tim Noad.

rca visit
David, who is the Somerset Herald, told us something about the history of the College and the heralds, and what their duties were both in days gone by and in the modern age. We were shown some beautiful and fascinating old documents, as well as some more modern examples. Perhaps the most special was a 9th century Anglo Saxon page with some lovely gold work. Tim then showed us some of his work, which was stunning and certainly something to aspire to for those of us taking the Heraldry course.

An informative and very interesting visit and we felt very privileged to have had the opportunity to visit the College and see some of its treasures.
