Bookbinding a simple sketchbook with Sharon Shaw

On 25th November 2023 several lucky people enjoyed a workshop on how to bookbind a simple stab-bound sketchbook usner the guidance of Sharon Shaw.

We learned how to bind single sheets together for a collection of sketches and colour trials. We began with a simple four-hole Japanese style binding and then adapted the method to create more elaborate sewing patterns.

One happy participant said "There's nothing quite like going home after a workshop with a finished project in your bag. Samples of different stitch patterns and books were plentiful and there was also much comparison of decorative cover papers and binding threads. Some people went into production immediately, making more after the class for Christmas presents."
