Carry Hornby

Carry Hornby (FRSA) is a Taiwanese-born Chinese brush artist, educator, and cultural practitioner based in South East London. Her work combines the use of traditional Chinese ink stone, ink stick, brush and Xuan paper exploring themes of nature, mindfulness, and cultural heritage.

Alongside her studio practice, Carry delivers traditional Calligraphy workshops both in ink and in water. She gives demonstrations, leads talks, and collaborates participatory projects, and solo exhibitions for libraries, museums, galleries, festivals, community organisations, and corporate wellbeing programmes. Her sessions are accessible to all ages and abilities, inspiring creativity while introducing the techniques and philosophy of Chinese brush painting.

Carry is passionate about using art to promote wellbeing, creativity, and cross-cultural understanding, creating meaningful experiences that connect people through artistic practice.
