City walk & St Barts Hospital archives
Join us to walk our West City Lettering trail which will include a special visit to the St Barts hospital Archives.
The walk will start at 10.00am on the 14th April at the entrance to Blackfriars underground station and you will have one of our trail booklets to use.
Finding the letters in alphabetical order on various plaques, notices and carvings we make our way along fleet Street up Chancery lane, through to Smithfields. Then on to Charterhouse Square and St Bartholomew the Great church.
After a stop for lunch we visit St Bartholomew Hospital arriving at the Archives at 2 pm. They will have a number of old documents from across the centuries for us to view. Hopefully there will be time to pop into the museum beforehand.
When we leave we can take a short walk toward St Paul’s Underground Station passing ‘Y’ and finishing with ‘Z’ in Postman‘s Park.
This is a full day’s outing. If you feel the walk is too much for you please ask if you can come to the Archives only. The trip is free but if you would like to give an extra small donation to the archives when we are there it would of course be welcome.
