About this event:

A one day workshop - 'Get started, revise and create'  - a workshop for beginners or those wishing to revise and have fun with simple creative techniques.

An introduction to calligraphy which will begin with the basics - double pencils and foundational roundhand to learn letter and alphabet structure, then when energy starts to flag, we will use simple letter forms to explore colourful and creative techniques. Enjoying the process is the best way to learn and keep practising, which hand lettering requires.

This would also suit those looking to revise an alphabet and wishing to try alternative tools apart from double pencils and broad edged nibs - such as brushes to work on fabric and 'cloth' pens - or cutting stencils and foam letters for printing with. You can even use your practice sheets to make a small folded box.

No pressure, this will be a relaxed class intended to inspire and spark ideas.
